Now that winter break is over, right around the corner will be graduation and summer.  For most students, that means looking for a job or internship is the first thing on their list.  Which means there will be many interviews in CSU Monterey Bay’s students near future.

Well students are in luck because on Feb. 12 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Woman of Leadership Council and the Career Center will be sponsoring a Dress For Success event in the University Center Living Room.

Dress For Success is a day where students can come to the UC Living Room and try on professional looking attire.  If they are pleased with the way it looks then they are allowed to wear it home.  There are no strings attached to taking the clothes, all you have to do is like the way you look in the outfit.

According to Eva Quiroz-Mojica, the development coordinator for Dress For Success, the clothes that will be available will consist of men’s and women’s suits, shoes, skirts, belts and much more.

When asked why students should come to Dress For Success, Quiroz-Mojica said, “[It’s] a great way for students to make a great impression [at their interviews].”

According to Amber Perez, coordinator of Career Development, there are two common ways of dressing in the job force.  The first one is business casual, which consists of men wearing khaki pants or dress slacks, a button up or polo shirt, and for women a nice blouse and either pants or a skirt that is knee length.  The second way to dress is business formal, which consists of men and women wearing suits that are either black, blue or gray.

“We want students to be ready for their first interview,” said Perez, when asked why the career development is sponsoring the event.

Senior and Human Communication major, Jennafer Leveille-Root is planning on attending Dress for Success for her first time.  “I’m really looking forward to it this year, because I’m going to be graduating and going into the teaching profession and I’m going to be needing professional looking clothes,” said Leveille-Root.  “It’s seems like a great way for students who are on a budget to get some good-looking clothes for their first job or an interview,” said Leveille-Root.

If you are unable to make it to Dress for Success on Feb. 12 then maybe you can make it to the next one.  There are three more scheduled for this semester, including April 2, which is the week before Career Day.
