A suspected has been arrested in the disappearance of Morgan Hill teenager, Sierra Lamar. The suspect, charged with murder, has not entered a plea.
Sierra Lamar went missing on March 16 of 2012. Authorities are only sure she made it half-way down the block from her home on the way to school.
The San Francisco Chronicle reported that “Authorities think 21-year-old Antolin Garcia-Torres, driving a route he usually took on his way to work, saw Sierra from his late 1990s Volkswagen Jetta, snatched her off the street and killed her. He didn't know her, investigators say.”
The arrest comes after months of tireless searching by family, friends, and volunteers. An investigative breakthrough came when a bag of clothes was found in a field near Morgan Hill.
Investigators are almost certain she is dead, but many still cling to hope that Lamar is alive somewhere.
The defendant could face the death penalty.
