After a week of intense practice the lady otters came back to the Kelp Bed to try to gain a win against CSULA, although they were denied in the end losing 61 to 59.
The lady otters started off the first half strong, employing an effectual press break against their opponents. Dana Andrews, a forward and Business junior had 15 points in the first half which included several three pointers. She kept the otters close before the break, only two points behind their opponents.
The second half was much of the same having a tied score with a minute and 30 seconds left. They then fell back by five and were not able to inbounds the ball, leading to a turnover. Dana Andrews, who had 28 points in the game, hit the final three to put the otters down by two for the final score.
"It sucked because we were so close," said Shanna Holmes, a guard and SBS junior. "We practiced real hard against the guys practice team. They put a lot of pressure on us, it just seems to be a different story when the game hits."
The lady otters are two to12 overall in the season, and 1-6 in CCAA conference play. They are currently last in their conference.
