A Lasting Impression
I have decided to enter the real world

This is the end. My list of “lasts” keeps getting longer. This is my last first issue of the Otter Realm. This is my last semester as Editor-In-Chief of the Otter Realm. This is my last time registering for classes. This is my last time having to pay tuition. This is my last semester as a student at CSU Monterey Bay (CSUMB). These lasts all add up to the feeling that everything I have known for the past four years will instantly change in one day. Graduation.
I have decided to enter the real world with a leap of faith. Not knowing what is next and having every opportunity in the world. A feeling I won’t have many times in my life. Instead of sitting and stewing about how I don’t have a job yet or where I am going to live, I vow to have a positive attitude. I can have any type of job I want and I can move or not move anywhere I want.
As college students we let the stress of life after graduation loom over us. From the first moment we start earning our degree we are bombarded with questions like, what are you going to do with that degree and how much money does that job make. Our whole life does not need to be planned in one day or even one year.
What happened to having a job you enjoy and making experiences to remember for a lifetime? Or about making a difference? This is what college is all about and what life is all about, jumping into adventures full on and making the best of everything. Never looking back and never having regrets. Cliché, I know, but remember nothing needs to be planned today. Life will take the road it is supposed to.
So here is to the end, and the beginning of the next phase of our lives.
Please enjoy the Otter Realm this semester as my time comes closer to the end. Although it is my last semester as Editor-In-Chief, it is not over. We have a brand new enthusiastic staff, a new layout, a continuously improving website (otterrealm.net) and many new stories to come. Take this leap of faith with me and the Otter Realm into Spring 2010.
