CSUMB is the School for Me

What started as a group of 10 girls, known as the “Get it Girls,” is now down to its last
four members. CSU Monterey Bay (CSUMB) dreaded the 10 of us together on campus;
we always had a talent of causing a scene. We loved this school the first semester, but it
would all change.
Our second semester, the first friend left campus and negative thoughts of the school
grew among my group of friends. It always irritated me, complaints of a lack of things
to do on campus, unfriendly classmates and CSUMB being a “fake” school were the
norm. A lot of my friends agreed, but I did not. I had nothing but good things to say
about CSUMB.
So, what exactly happened to the other five girls? Some of them moved home and
some wanted to experience other schools in hopes they could better fulfill their academic
expectations. Yeah, I do miss those girls and we will always be the “Get it Girls”, but I am
glad I stayed at CSUMB. They moved onto new and maybe bigger things, but in my eyes,
they are missing out on a good school.
It is understandable that people are entitled to their opinions and not everyone is going
to agree on the same things. What a lot of students hate about the school is actually what
I find most intriguing, the difference between CSUMB and other campuses find it unique
that our school is located on an old army base. There is so much history behind this
campus, which is always a fantastic conversation starter with those not enrolled here.
The student population of this campus is what I find most pleasing. The small-sized
classes allow the students to mingle and get to know one another on a personal basis,
including the professors. If any help is needed, the professors of CSUMB are always there
to lend a hand and show support. That is what makes this school so remarkable.
From almost two years of being a student here, I have changed and learned so much;
not only from the professors but also from my classmates. I take pride in this school and
hope I am not alone.
